I read this to my grandchildren, aged 3 and 5, and while they loved it, I had reservations. Basically it is a story about how LOUD Lulu was reprimanded for this undesirable trait. However, it was a more accepted trait when it saved lives by putting out a fire close to the school. So while this story is not something I particularly liked, it was well received by the younger generation.
I love stories where a negative trait is shown to sometimes be a positive one. And this was a great example of that! It didn't hurt that my son was born with a voice that boomed from the beginning. So I could definitely relate. This would be a great book to read in the classroom--not only to teach kids to use their inside voices, but to also show that sometimes a negative trait, used in the right way, can save the day.
I read this last night with my daughter and it's a real cute story. My daughter liked it too and immediately asked for it again!
This is a cute story about Lula and her loud voice. The illustrations were so good, that my grandson could predict what was going to happen next.
Cute story. But she needs to find her inside voice.It might encourage kids to yell more.
Love it!! And my son loves it. We read it every day.
Funny way to suggest that a child needs to temper his volume.
This is a favorite for my equally loud daughter it kept us laughing through the whole book!
I love the artwork in this book. And who doesn't relate to a loud kid?
