I overlooked this book for a long time, the title did not register. Although, after reading it I think its impact will never leave. The story shows how a young girl holds steadfast in Christ. She is a babe in Him, but never give in.

Written in 2010 and the events seem eerily close to our society today. People have blinders on and will keep following the darkness. I know this story as told in the Bible about future events yet the author weaves it into a modern tale we can easily relate to. Very well done. READ IT!

This is a Christian End Times novel.The reader finds the main character, Becky, running for her life. The reasons for this unfolds in flashbacks through the eyes of Becky.I like that the reader finds out what is going on in the 'author's world' through Becky's eyes. It is a world that is different in some ways from our current one. The possibility does exist that our world may turn into this if the warning placed within the novel is not heeded.If you are a Christian and wonder what End Times may look like, this is the book for you. If you are a non-Christian and wonder why some Christians are the way they are, you may discover some answers within these pages.

What a wonderful blessing, this book is well written and backed by the Word of God. Most definitely a great book to recommend to family, friends any everyone else!A must read

I have read this today for the second time. It is a great witness to all who will read it. I pray that anyone who is seeking the real answer would take this book and the opportunity it offers seriously, don't wait.

When I ordered this book I wasn't quite sure what I was getting. I haven't read a novel in quite a while so I wasn't sure if this one would be interesting. It started slow for me(I thought at first it was written for more of the teenage crowd), but it really got me hooked. Not only was the story gripping but I learned more about the Book of Revelation than any other book I have ever read because it is in story form and very entertaining. I don't want to give away any of the plot but at one point I was ready to stand up and be accounted as one of Christ's Soldiers and get out and do something like the first time I saw Rocky in the movie theatres. Remember that. That was fun. So I hope you get this and enjoy, it is really a fun ride.

This is a sadly realistic novel of the end times predicted in the book of Revelation. The young teenager who is the main character,shows just how hard it will be and that only trust in Jesus is the only way,the truth,and the light.

I love this book about the end times. And when the court scene was told, I know this will be how it goes. Either you stand for Christ or you choose the antichrist. We must develop the faith!

Good read with 2 adventurous guys nothaving a clue what lay ahead. They canmark this trip off their bucket list!

Great read with interesting and colorful commentary that keeps the reader engaged. Through the last page, I wanted to reading more. Ready to hear about the next modern day adventure from this writer.

Enjoyed everything about this book. Randy is a great storyteller!

I received a copy to facilitate my review.Talk about courage, these men, Randy Denmon and Dean Lewis, have it. I would never attempt to do what they did. He and a friend took an electric car, a Tesla S and drove it from Louisiana to the Panama Canal. What terrified me were the very things they had to worry about. A lot of these countries have drug lords. They also had to worry about to deal with policemen who did things their own way. For me the scariest thing was not knowing where they were going to be able to get electric to power their car. They took all kinds of plugs and extension cords. The Tesla sits real low to the ground. This was also a problem for them. They were not always driving on real smooth roads. There were treacherous mountain roads. There were roads full of potholes, bumps, and other problems like volcanoes. The book, for all of the issues they faced is very upbeat due to Randy’s attitude/sense of humor. As much as I loved the book and knew things had to turn out okay, since they made it back to write the book, I worried for them and their safety the entire time. This was definitely different from what I usually read. That is probably why I enjoyed it so much. I could live through their trip without having to do the physical traveling, from the safety of my own home.

In my younger years I considered myself the adventurous sort but there is NO WAY I would have undertaken a journey of this magnitude. This is what happens when a guy who hasn't taken a "real" vacation in over five years gets a wild idea and finds a friend willing to ride along.As far as the writing goes, Randy is no Bert Levy but he does add some humor into this dangerous adventure. There are many fascinating historical facts presented along the way, along with some political opinion.Because I know he lived to write about it, some of the edge has been taken off. I kept waiting for a few more Top Gear type moments. I can imagine readers and friends waiting breathlessly for daily reports as this daring duo attacked unknown territory.

Throughout the work I had a growing suspicion that this trip wasnt as ad lib as portrayed. I strongly suspect Tesla underwrote the adventure but there is no evidence for that claim. The author’s narrative provides the reader with an interesting travel guide for 3000 miles of country most of us know little about. Randy and Dan’s adventure at times seems to be extremely wreckless and risky. I have a sense, however, that Randy had much more knowledge of the region and the people than he divulges. Few people crave adventure to the extent that Randy and Dean did and it is even more rare to read a story like this that isn’t interspersed with left wing comments. If you love big government you may want to spend 231 pages reading something else.

Not my kind of book. Hard to relate to having a Tesla.Taking pointless risks always strikes me as dumb and reading about them is not enjoyable. There is nothing enjoyable about the constant listing of crimes against humans. There is almost as much focus on the horrors done recently to people in each area they drive to, as there is with finding power plugs.It is no surprise that finding the right power is a constant problem. Combining that known, with the violence and lawlessness of the area, their decision to travel with an all electric car is just dumb..Their survival had nothing to do with their smarts or ability. It was pure luck. Yet the book seeps with a macho bravado tone. They seem to feel as if they accomplished something.

About the Author

Gregory Coles is a contributor to Jim Henson's The Dark Crystal Author Quest―a collection of short stories published by Grosset and Dunlap (Penguin Random House)―and a top-five finalist in the international contest to "find the next great Dark Crystal author" for Jim Henson Company's book series set in that world. An American author, playwright, and songwriter, Gregory spent fifteen years growing up in the Muslim neighborhoods of Bandung, Indonesia, in the shadow of a golden-domed mosque marked by a spire with a silver crescent moon. The son of two committed Christian teachers, Greg learned from a young age to look for God in the world around him. He read Shakespeare's Hamlet at age eight, learned to speak several languages, and published his first short story while still in high school. At age eighteen, he returned to the United States to pursue his education, earning a bachelor's degree in communication with emphasis in English literature―and graduating as valedictorian of his class. In full disclosure, Greg Coles is a friend of mine, which means that I was really excited to read his book because I expected it would be fabulous. But I was also a bit nervous to read his book on the slim chance that it would be anything less than stellar because it’s an awkward thing to write a less-than-glowing review for a friend. Thankfully, Greg put those lurking concerns to rest, quickly and thoroughly.“Single, Gay, Christian” is quite simply a gift. It is, first and foremost, a beautiful and engrossing story of a young man who has known for much of his life that he is gay, trying to figure out what to do with his sexual identity in the context of an evangelical Christian community that has not historically known what to do with the likes of him, other than various iterations of rejection and condemnation. What Greg does with candor and grace and humor is share with us the journey that has led him to refuse to accept the simplistic binary options that public discourse would suggest are the only possibilities for someone like him: reject the reality of his sexuality by pretending or “praying away the gay” OR reject traditional Christian sexual ethics by embracing same-sex sexual expression as acceptable to God. Instead of choosing from between those two options, Greg has joined a brave but growing minority of folks who pursue a life as celibate, gay Christians, and this book is the beautiful story of Greg’s pursuit of God and God’s embrace of Greg.This book may not be as theologically and socially groundbreaking as its literary forebear, Wesley Hill’s “Washed and Waiting.” But just as Hill explains in the foreword, it is not even remotely a retelling of Hill’s story. Indeed, Greg’s story is his own, unique in its context and its shaping and its tone. And Greg manages to strike a series of nearly impossible balances, especially given the inherent provocation that his topic and themes so easily produce. The book is deeply theological without being unapproachably academic. It is thoroughly biblical without being preachy or wooden. It is often funny without resorting to cheap jokes or nasty sarcasm. It is very direct without stumbling into pretend certainty or unhelpful dogmatism. It shares Greg’s very real pain and struggle without wallowing in self-pity. It is necessarily critical without being snarky or careless. The tone is gracious, winsome, inviting, challenging, encouraging, and inspiring, from cover to cover. And all of this happens in 144 compelling, accessible pages that probably could be read in one sitting and managed to keep me up much later than I intended over the course of a few nights when I was utterly exhausted. All of this means that you don't need to be an avid reader, a scholar, or even a Christian to appreciate the book.I am happy to recommend “Single, Gay, Christian” to anyone willing to consider what it might look like for a gay man to love God, follow Jesus, treasure the Bible, respect the church, and pursue obedience through celibacy. You don’t need to agree with any of Greg’s decisions to gain considerable value from reading the book. But Greg has given a gift to the church, a story that will surely help many of us grapple with some preconceived notions we all too readily assume about something we too little understand. I imagine that it might irritate or disturb some, since Greg is unwilling to accept the simplistic answers that the evangelical church has often offered for complex questions related to human sexuality. But he said things I needed to hear, challenged assumptions I've always made, and asked better questions I need to ponder. Greg has been one of my heroes for a few years now, but he's just become one of my favorite authors, too. This book will be a launching point into some significant ways that I am confident God will use Greg to minister to so many of us in the years to come. Whodathunk that I, a married pastor, could learn so much from a single, gay, Christian?

So either every one will read him and think he is a traitor to his own kind, or our fractured community will read him and find in his book a place to come and reason together. I hope and pray that this book will be the kind conversation starter it was meant to be.It is my hope that this book will find an audience beyond those who have questions about LGBTQ issues in the church. It is, at its most basic level, the story of one young man trying to live a good Christian life, to read the Bible and obey it, to love his church and find satisfaction in Christ alone. We can all learn something from that.

I had given up on Google Adwords in 2014 and hadn't looked back until I read this book. The knowledge I was lacking to be successful using Google Adwords has now been acquired thanks to this book and some internet searches prompted by this book. For me, this book simplified everything I needed to know how to run an ad campaign. Part of the knowledge I acquired that stood out was that I can block ISP addresses that waste my budget by clicking on my ads. Afterwards they will no longer be able to see my ads from their ISP address. This is a great knowledge to know if you are up against unscrupoulous competitors. I learned how negative keywords are extremely useful and protect your budget. Also, I now run my ads only during the hours I take calls. I started a new advertising campaign on 2/9/19 with great confidence. Wish me luck!

I've always been really intimated by google adwords. I just run a small wordpress blog but I put a lot of effort into it and haven't been getting the views I would like even with SEO. Absolutely impressed that I have access to pointers that will help me grow my new business. Always heard of the importance of keywords and search engines, but this book really clarified all the misconceptions. Google has become my best friend and I'm using Noah Gray's book to help.

I had so many phone calls from companies that wanted to help promote my website. This book makes all the dots connect. I now understand how to use manage and enhance my ad words. I am comfortable doing my own ad word management.

Having been treated to a water color class called Mapping Your Walk and barely knowing what a brush was, I found this particular book motivating and stimulating.

Amusing collection of different sorts of maps. As well presenting mapping data as resolving problems in visualization of knowledge. Very inspiring for designers, writers and people ordering some information.

This is a solid account of the first real fighting between the ground forces of Australia, he US Army (including the US Army Air Force), and the Japanese ground forces. Due to the location of the fighting (extreme heights and trackless jungles), the allied forces didn’t initially perform well, not having trained for this environment and being under-equipped for the type of fighting. This campaign was the first significant victory over Japanese ground forces (beating the much better known Guadalcanal campaign by about two weeks). Losses here were horrific for both sides, higher than those at Guadalcanal. The author also makes a good point that some of the Japanese strongholds could have been left to wither on the vine, and been starved-out vice actively attacked.My only real complaint is that the included maps could have been better, as they’re hard to follow. But this is a good book about a nearly forgotten campaign.

My fanily has many copies of this book, and I just bought it for my father-in-law. My grandfather fought in this battle, and is actually in this book. These soldiers are true heroes, though they will never think that of themselves.

My father fought with the 163rd infantry in this battle. He never spoke of his experiences in the war. He died in 1978 of leukemia as a result of radiation poisoning after being stationed at Hiroshima 10 days after the bomb fell. I've researched much of what he experienced and I've never found a more fascinating and graphic account of the war than this book, Bloody Buna' written by Lida Mayo. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in WWII primarily because it is so well-written and secondly because these battles have been so grossly overlooked. You'll find this accounting to be far more fascinating than most other WWII battles. This really was the first time that we gave the japs hell.

"Bloody Buna" covers the events leading up to and the battle for Buna-Gona-Sananda on New Guinea in the early days of the war in the Pacific. It took place in parallel with the Marine struggle for Guadalcanal, yet this U.S. Army engagement is virtually forgotten. But this is where the U.S. Army learned vital lessons for the jungle struggles that would push the Imperial Japanese army back across the Pacific. Read this along with "Ghost Mountain Boys" for a complete picture of the engagement.

To a certain extent this book is superseded by The Ghost Mountain Boys, but not completely. In this short, concise work the author manages effective and thoughtful criticism of MacArthur, and also addresses the issues of the friction between the Australian and American forces, and the quality or lack thereof of American fighting. This battle was commenced around September of 1942, and ended in January of 1943, really it was fought at the same time as Guadacanal. The author also does a good job pointing out the competition for resources and attention between Buna and Guadacanal, especially from the Japanese point of view. And the fact that appropriate weapons were lacking to reduce the Japanese bunkers. Much praise is due the author.

This book clearly shows how uninformed our generals were in WWII, especially in New Guinea, trying to make decisions from far behind the battle lines with inadequate intelligence resources at their disposal.My father fought near Buna. This book gave our family a chance to get more details out of him. He has rarely spoken much about his war experiences.The included maps really help readers understand how events changed during the conflict. Most of us are otherwise unfamiliar with New Guinea.

I bought this book,...only because my uncle was there...in the midst of the bloody combat fighting that took place in WWII Buna, New Guinea,...between the American forces and the well entrenched and supplied Japanese. The losses were teriffic to the American forces because of the well equipped Japanese, and the unforgiving jungle. The "Battle for Buna", became the American ground forces turning point for war in the Pacific. War historians and the general public will find this book interesting.

Excellant supplement to "Ghost Mountain Boys" by Campbell.
